We aim to realize "Vision 2050: Japan Shines, Forest Circular Economy" promoted by the Platinum Forest Industry Initiative. We will disseminate ideas and initiatives to promote biomass chemistry, realize woody and lumbery communities, and encourage innovation in the forestry industry in order to fully utilize forest resources to decarbonize the economy, strengthen economic security, and create local communities.

Forest Circular Economy Talk Live" is a new series of events in which practitioners involved in the forest industry and regional economies will share their wisdom and practical examples of dealing with issues in the field in a conversational format. The first session of the series will focus on a book that has attracted a lot of attention, and will explore the perspectives of authors, researchers, and practitioners to find suggestions that can be applied to Japan's regions. The books to be discussed in the first installment are,France, the Land of Broadleaf Trees: From 'the Right Tree in the Right Place' to Natural Forestry" (Hitoshi Kadowaki, author, Tsukiji Shokan)It is.

This book describes the process of France's conversion to natural forestry based on the concept of "the right tree in the right place" and the rebuilding of broadleaf-centered forests from the multilayered perspectives of culture, policy, industry, and local society, despite the loss of its forests over its long history. The book is full of suggestions that are relevant to the field in Japan, such as the relationship between cities and forests, differences in vegetation in different regions, and the development of illumination methods.

This book was also featured in a book review article on forest circular economy.
