We aim to realize "Vision 2050: Japan Shines, Forest Circular Economy" promoted by the Platinum Forest Industry Initiative. We will disseminate ideas and initiatives to promote biomass chemistry, realize woody and lumbery communities, and encourage innovation in the forestry industry in order to fully utilize forest resources to decarbonize the economy, strengthen economic security, and create local communities.

Sanyo Engineering, a machine design manufacturer of crushing and sorting equipment for wood and wood waste, was recognized as an excellent company under the "Support Project for Formulation of SME Growth Plan" conducted by the Hiroshima Industrial Promotion Organization. Sanyo Engineering was recognized for its comprehensive technological capabilities for effective use of wood resources and for its product development challenges.

Proprietary technology enables both mass production and low cost

The company's main business is the design, manufacture, installation, and sale of crushers, drum chippers, crushers, and other technologies for recycling waste wood, as well as equipment for producing chips for biomass power generation from unused forest wood.

The HMP-type wood waste crushing and sorting plant, which incorporates a proprietary technology system, efficiently crushes and sorts waste wood to achieve both mass production of high-quality wood chips and lower costs. At present, the plant has been delivered to 43 prefectures throughout Japan.

The company has also developed a wood chip washer (rinsing type foreign matter removal device) that efficiently produces large quantities of high-quality chips by sedimenting and removing foreign matter such as pebbles, metal fragments, sand, and hard plastic from the manufactured wood chips, and has been certified as a "Hiroshima Prefecture 'Manufacturing' Only One Company.

In this year's review, the evaluation was based on the company's efforts to enhance its product lineup based on customer needs, improve existing facilities, and continue to take on new challenges without fear of failure, as well as its business model.

The SME Growth Plan Formulation Support Project, which evaluated the company, will be implemented by the Hiroshima Industrial Promotion Organization, which was established under the leadership of Hiroshima Prefecture. The program aims to contribute to the development of industry in the prefecture by objectively evaluating a company's technological and managerial capabilities and proposing specific growth strategies.

In the trend toward decarbonization, the importance of renewable resources such as woody biomass is increasing. The company's technology for converting waste wood into valuable resources is likely to attract attention as a leading example of how to contribute to the creation of a resource-recycling society in the region.
