We aim to realize "Vision 2050: Japan Shines, Forest Circular Economy" promoted by the Platinum Forest Industry Initiative. We will disseminate ideas and initiatives to promote biomass chemistry, realize woody and lumbery communities, and encourage innovation in the forestry industry in order to fully utilize forest resources to decarbonize the economy, strengthen economic security, and create local communities.
Plus, a manufacturer of office furniture, will release a domestically sourced wood model of its free-address desk "minimo lots" on January 1, 2026. By adopting domestically sourced cedar as the core material for this widely used standard furniture, the company aims to further promote the circulation of forest resources and realize a decarbonized society within offices.
"minimo lots" marks the first installment in a project to gradually transition existing office furniture series to domestic wood. At the core of PLUS's "MOKURAL" wood utilization project, promoted since 2022, is the perspective that properly harvested and utilized wood contributes to forest health and carbon neutrality. The company has previously launched products like the wood-metal hybrid "Vicenda Series" and the wooden furniture line "MARU." The announcement of the "minimo lots" domestic wood model signals a more aggressive strategic push.

Notably, rather than manufacturing new wooden furniture, the company has begun replacing existing products already popular in the market with ones made from domestic timber. This product utilizes domestic cedar for the core material of the tabletop while employing durable melamine resin laminate for the surface. This approach maintains the strength and maintainability required for office furniture while increasing the volume of domestic timber used.

The company plans to transition existing products across 16 categories, including standard desks and storage units, to domestic timber. The shift to domestic timber for everyday office furniture will create stable demand for forest resources, forming a circular scheme to revitalize Japan's forests and industries. This approach, including a system where a portion of sales is donated to the "Green Fund," means corporate purchasing decisions directly contribute to protecting Japan's forest resources. The strategy of wood-based universal furniture also contributes to transforming urban offices into a second forest.
