We aim to realize "Vision 2050: Japan Shines, Forest Circular Economy" promoted by the Platinum Forest Industry Initiative. We will disseminate ideas and initiatives to promote biomass chemistry, realize woody and lumbery communities, and encourage innovation in the forestry industry in order to fully utilize forest resources to decarbonize the economy, strengthen economic security, and create local communities.
The WOOD Collection (MOKU Collection) Management Office has released the results of a survey of businesspersons across Japan on their awareness of "work environments with trees. According to the survey, about half of the respondents rated offices with trees as "relaxing to work in," and the content of the survey questions once again the value of the use of wood as a strategic step to link urban life and forest circulation, in anticipation of the WOOD Collection 2026, a domestic wood exhibition and business conference to be held on February 12 and 13.
In today's office environment, "psychological safety" and "wellbeing" are emphasized alongside increased productivity. In this survey, many respondents acknowledged the emotional value of a space with trees, saying it "makes them feel calm" and "gives them a sense of security. Looking at the responses by generation, men in their 20s and 30s found "ease of communication" and women in their 20s found "idea generation" and "increased motivation," indicating the positive response brought about by the material wood.

The survey also revealed that wood utilization is directly related to corporate image. A majority of respondents have a favorable impression of companies that incorporate wood in their offices, saying that they "value their employees" and "care about the community and natural environment. The use of wood is not just a spatial design option, but can be at the core of maximizing employee performance and corporate branding.

Increased demand for lumber in urban areas will drive appropriate logging and reforestation to maintain healthy forest cycles. MOKU-COLLE 2026 is a gathering place for the latest building materials and products that support these findings. Converting offices to wood is nothing less than a concrete action to protect and regenerate Japan's forests while enhancing the well-being of workers.
