We aim to realize "Vision 2050: Japan Shines, Forest Circular Economy" promoted by the Platinum Forest Industry Initiative. We will disseminate ideas and initiatives to promote biomass chemistry, realize woody and lumbery communities, and encourage innovation in the forestry industry in order to fully utilize forest resources to decarbonize the economy, strengthen economic security, and create local communities.

Stellar Green, an environmental value creation business, recently introduced LivMap, a shared map developed by Hanposaki, a geographic information management and sharing service provider. The application allows teams to share the location of surveys and progress of work in the field, and contributes to the efficiency of forest patrol operations associated with J-credit creation.

Eliminate cumbersome patrol work with paper maps

The app includes numerous maps from the outset, allowing users to share photos, point notes, current locations, and work logs on the map with team members by operating their smart phones. This allows for accurate location and field conditions, efficient organization and sharing of records, and overhead and real-time progress management and work coordination. The accumulation of information with guaranteed accuracy will also lead to improved accountability in the trail management of the J-Credit system.

In order to manage forests, it is essential to conduct on-site patrols and accurately record information. However, the conventional paper map-based method has been difficult to identify the target sub-groups, check a large number of photos, and monitor the progress and coordination among workers, resulting in a heavy workload. However, in many cases, the high price and limited functionality are barriers for users.

Patrol operations using LivMap

With its simple UI, high customizability, and low price, LivMap is an easy choice to try for users who are struggling to implement forestry DX. Improving the efficiency of monitoring activities in forests is essential for sound forest management. The existence of a tool that is easy to adopt will promote the use of DX in the forestry field, and could be a catalyst for the spread of smart forestry.
