We aim to realize "Vision 2050: Japan Shines, Forest Circular Economy" promoted by the Platinum Forest Industry Initiative. We will disseminate ideas and initiatives to promote biomass chemistry, realize woody and lumbery communities, and encourage innovation in the forestry industry in order to fully utilize forest resources to decarbonize the economy, strengthen economic security, and create local communities.

Last November, Toshihiro Koizumi, the mayor of Komoro, Nagano PrefectureSmall but Shiny Town Komoro: How to Create a "Stylish Countryside"" (Sanseido Shoten / Soeisha)The book was published by the Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSEC). The book is full of know-how that will be very helpful to local cities with populations in the tens of thousands, such as "Civic Pride Drives the Town," "It All Started with the 'Komoron' Video," "The Fashionable Countryside Project Begins," "The Town of Business Choice," "Connecting Urban and Rural Communities," and "What is the Power of Hometowns?

In this event, Mayor Koizumi himself will explain the contents of the book in depth, and at the same time, he will share episodes that could not be written in the book. In the second part, Komoro City Hall staff will talk about the future of forest maintenance and measures against birds and animals, including a detailed explanation of the "Shinshu Government Hunters Council" established by Komoro City and Omachi City on March 21, 2012.

Toshihiro Koizumi: Currently serving his third term as mayor of Komoro. He has successfully revitalized the city of Komoro through the development of "Wellness City Shinshu Komoro," which focuses on promoting immigration, revitalizing the central city area, and building a new model linking agriculture and the city. He has attracted nationwide attention as an advanced example of regional revitalization.
Current State of Forestry (Maintenance), Wildlife Control and Zoning (14:00-)
On March 21, Komoro City and Omachi City (Nagano Prefecture) established the "Shinshu Government Hunters Council. With emergency gun hunting since last September allowing local governments to fire at their discretion, the idea is to strengthen the network of "government hunters," public officials who hold hunting licenses and are responsible for extermination. In the second part, members of the Komoro City Hall, who are leading the measures against wild birds and beasts in Nagano Prefecture, will engage in a frank discussion on the future of forest maintenance and measures against birds and beasts.
